English (Traducir este texto en Español): The Trade Winds sweep these islands all year, with the main season being the summer. The bay is somewaht protected by being in the lee of the island and having all those high-rises
English (Traducir este texto en Español): Las Cucharas beach got its first international reputation from holding the Windsurf Worldcup in the early 90’s. The bay offers flat water an is good for learning, further out there are a couple of surf spots (including La Izquerda), which create great conditions for bump and jump. These are not too extreme, so can be attempted by even beginners

...spot ? - ok, if I call some spot a spot I mean: starting without boat, riding in at least acceptable security. of course one can kitesurf anywhere where there is water and wind. but las cucharas is definitly very very dangerous. sailing out with the windsurfer on an expert windsurf board (waveboard, no excess volume) can be different, because of gusts and lulls. but, no problem, call it a spot. if this is a kitesurfspot, then the whole island is a spot (the coastline is maybe 60 % pure rocks)

Kitesurfing & Windsurfing in las Cucharas - Not sure where this guy is coming from or how much about the sport he knows...I kitesurfed off las Cucharas taking off from a boat and rode for miles. I agree it is challenging coming back onto the beach, because of the pontoons, a few boats and people on the water, not sure if it is allowed at the moment. But it is as possible as anywhere else. The windsurfers were ridding in and out of the beach easily by the hundreds, even beginers were about. There are a few kite (NSC) and windsurf clubs on the beach too. Ride sound!

- i am going to Costa Tequise on sat for a week and taking the kitesurf gear so i will tell you exactly how it is...from some of the pics i have seen and opinions i have read as long as you can hold your ground upwind it shouldnt be too bad. It also doesnt look too rocky, but i guess pics can be deceiving..
